Post Commander
Janet S. Alford
Janet Alford retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service. She is originally from
Angeles City, Philippines, where her father was a member of VFW Post 2485. She also calls St Augustine, Florida home. Her last
deployment was to Kirkuk, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and her last duty
station was at Joint Region Marianas, Guam as Director of Fleet and Family Readiness.
She won the Most Outstanding Post Member Award in the VFW Department of Pacific Areas for the year 2023-2024.
As Post Commander she serves on every Post Commitee, President of our Post Board of Directors and leads the Post Honor Guard Teram.
Janet is a VFW Gold Legacy Life Member and member of the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 15. She moved back to Angeles City in 2017
after a small stint as a JROTC Instructor. She has one beautiful and talented daughter
Christina, whom she is very proud of.
Senior Vice Commander
Brian J. Hamic
Brian Hamic is a VFW Gold Legacy Life Member and member of the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 15. He previously served as the Adjutant and Jr. Vice Commander of Post 2485. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1995 after having served with the 5th Infantry Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana; 2nd Infantry Division in Dongducheon, Korea; the U.S. Army Soldier Support Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; Eighth Army HQ Commandant at Yongsan, Korea and ended his career with an assignment with the Special Troops Battalion at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense and Korea Defense Service Medals and the usual ribbons & badges. Brian has two grown sons who live in Hawaii, is a proud father & grandfather and resides in Angeles City, PI with his wife and third son Ethan.
Junior Vice Commander
Joshua T. Shaffer
Joshua “Josh” Shaffer, Master Sergeant U.S. Army (Retired) is originally from Miami, Florida. He and his wife Irene have been married for 25 years, they have 5 children, Jonathan, Sara, Jessi, Jayce and Jacob. Both Jonathan and Sara are currently on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2005 after serving 8 years in Military Intelligence and 16 years in Special Forces. He deployed with or led Special Forces A-Teams in Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Tonga, and Iraq. Josh has the distinction of being one of the few service members since the Korean War to have deployed to North Korea as part of a Joint Casualty Recovery Team. His numerous awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal (5x), Army Commendation Medal (4x), Combat Infantryman Badge and the Korean Meritorious Service Citation Award. He still works from home as a Program Manager for SOS International, managing teams in the USA and Southwest Asia.
